Camp SKholē

Camp Skholē is a Homeschool Cooperative program under the guidance and direction of Hidden Acres And a Steering Committee.

History

In 2015 Hidden Acres began hosting the OAKS Leadership Homeschool Co-op. In 2022 the Hidden Acres Board of Directors approved the addition of enrichment classes and a revamped program. Camp Skholē was then established under the direction of Tim and Rebeca Carpenter and a steering committee.

MISSION

Camp Skholē is a place of learning through leisure where leaders grow in Christ, and godly character, to positively impact their community and the world.

Vision

To partner with families committed to nurturing children into godly, servant leaders.

Our vision is to grow under God's guidance, working together to make improvements and additions to our program.

Culture

Camp Skholē aims to build a culture based on Mark 10:43-45 where Jesus calls his disciples to serve as He came to serve. We desire for our members to work together as the body of Christ in a cooperative way based on Christ's love and grace. We desire to partner with families who teach God’s word diligently to their children and set an example of Christlike servant-leadership.

Goals

To teach Christ-centered and character-building lessons that encourage our students to grow in Christ and as leaders.

To have teachers who have a passion for the subjects, inspired by Charlotte Mason pedagogy, and a love for their students that encourage a love of learning and help equip them for the plans God has for their lives.

Programs

  • OAKS Leadership Program: Four weeks in the Fall and Spring are devoted to our outdoor & servant leadership focus program. This program is unlike others in that it is a day program that includes nature time, character-building class time, and camp recreational activities. The program goes from 9:30 am - 1:30 pm.

  • Mini-Mesters: Eight weeks in the Fall and Spring Mini-Mesters focus on enrichment classes. We meet on Tuesday mornings to learn and grow through Charlotte Mason-style classes. Classes are 50-minute classes in a variety of subjects beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the last hour ending at 1:30 p.m.
